Fashion Design
The pieces below tell a story of returning home, and how the definition of home evolves throughout the journey back. From the point where one leaves, to a point where they return. It also explores how one picks up different cultures along the way, that give birth to a new sense of what home really is.
I decided to fuse Fulani/Hausa and Ankara fabrics, with delicate fabrics such as tulle and lace, to shed a different light on a culture that is usually discussed with violence, and to capture the deep admiration I have for the culture (Fulani/Hausa) I grew up with.
These pieces also serve as a start to a fashion line and collection I one day, hope to create.
